Blog 2 - The Bachelor Winning
In light of the new Bachelor season, I want to bring attention to one of the show's contestants, Corrine Olympios. If you haven't watched this season of the Bachelor already, here's a quick recap. Olympios is a 24-year-old contestant from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She claims to run a multi-million dollar business owned by her father, all the while, still being cared for by her nanny, Raquel, who the Internet went crazy over last week (a Gofundme account was set up to #freeRaquel). Hence, Olympios is basically your Paris Hilton 2.0. She is not shy about going after what she wants, even if it means being brutally honest and stepping over boundaries. Other contestants may dislike her, but they can't stop talking about her.
Despite being labeled as this season's villain (and probably the most aggressive contestant in the show's history), we might have just underestimated this Florida native. Just after the premiere of episode 3, she already gained over 101k Instagram followers and even her nanny racked up 17k Twitter followers in just a few short days. She's slowly taking over social media with memes and parody videos. So believe it or not, she's actually a marketing genius. From taking off her top to sleeping past the rose ceremony, Olympios sure knows how to make a lasting impression on the audience.
Although it may not be for the right reasons, she's getting her name out there. Thanks to Olympios, ABC's The Bachelor also enjoyed high ratings in recent weeks, surpassing CBS, NBC, Fox, and The CW for the 8 PM time slot. The producers have probably figured out by now that the audience can't get enough of her madness. Thus, my guess is that they'll keep her around long enough to create anticipation for the finale or at least until Nick (the Bachelor) realizes she's insane. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up on the next season of Bachelor in Paradise or perhaps, even the next Bachelorette. Don't underestimate this businesswoman yet, because she just possibly earned herself a ticket to "Paradise".

Loved this post! Informative with a creative and entertaining style. I've been watching this season and I have the same opinion of Corinne. Interesting how her notoriety just increases her fame.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Each season always has a crazy, and Corinne fills those shoes this time. Remember onion girl (Ashley S) from Chris' season? She's engaged and pregnant now, and she seems to be completely normal. The producers of this show clearly paint the contestants in a certain light and ramp up their already existing personality traits. Whether Corinne is actually crazy or just faking for the show, we all buy into it. The marketing behind the show is genius. We all follow her on social media and can't wait to see the next insane thing she will do. I'll definitely be watching tonight!! #FreeRaquel
